Tailor's Bunion
Prominence of the fifth metatarsal head on the outside portion of the foot with deviation of the fifth digit toward the fourth toe.
Symptom
Pain isolated to the side of the fifth metartarsal head on the affected foot related to pressure from the surface of the shoe
Treatment
• Wide toebox style shoe with general recommendation for lace or buckle closure shoe to ensure adequate width through the ball of foot region
• Limited use of padding as practical to decrease pressure on the fifth metatarsal
• Surgical correction of deformity based on quality of pain and failure of conservative shoe and padding accommodation
