      Chris Byrne, DPM

      Dr. Byrne is board certified in foot surgery by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. He is a 1986 graduate of the University of California at Santa Barbara and completed his graduate medical studies in 1991 with high honors from the California College of Podiatric Medicine. He went on to complete his surgical residency training at Straith Hospital for Special Surgery in Detroit as well as Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Oakland.

      Prior to relocating back to San Luis Obispo, Dr. Byrne practiced in Portland for eight years at the Portland Clinic as well as Healthfirst Medical Group. While in Oregon he was the section Chair of Podiatric Surgery at St. Vincent Hospital and was actively involved in the Legacy-Kaiser Hospital Podiatric Residency Training Program.

      Dr. Byrne has been seeing patients on the Central Coast for over 20 years, and is the team podiatrist for the Cal Poly and Cuesta College athletic programs. He also serves as the Medical Director for Coast Ambulatory Surgery Center, the Central Coast’s only surgery center dedicated to foot and ankle surgery.

      Having grown up on the Central Coast, Dr. Byrne can often be found visiting with his parents in his childhood house here in SLO county. After a short period away in the Northwest he soon felt the call back home and still resides in the place he and his wife bought to raise their now grown children. In his spare time he enjoys volunteering for organizations supporting the empowerment of women and children, running, biking, and gatherings with his friends and family.

      Stephen Burke, C.Ped.

      Stephen Burke is a San Luis Obispo County native, graduating from Templeton High School.  After graduation Stephen served his country and enlisted in the Marine Corps.  Upon completing his tour of duty, Stephen worked as a Structural Mechanic for American Airlines. 

      With a passion for precision and construction, Stephen became a licensed contractor where he worked in the trades for many years.

      During this time, he also has had an ongoing role in his wives’, Mary Ann Burke, busy North County Physical Therapy practice, assisting in the management and daily operations of this busy physical therapy practice.

      Through his involvement in physical therapy, Stephen developed a keen interest in applied mechanics and physical medicine.  The field of Pedorthics has drawn him into the perfect mix of precise mechanical correction and patient care.

      Prior to joining San Luis Podiatry Group, Stephen completed his Pedorthic training at the International School of Pedorthics in Dallas, Texas and is continuing his ongoing education at Spectrum Orthotics and Prosthetics in Medford, Oregon.

      Stephen and Mary Ann have been married 17 years and have a 10-year-old daughter, Loretta.  Stephen is actively involved in Loretta’s equestrian passion of junior rodeo participation, where she competes in barrel racing and pole bending.

      Stephen is a runner and competes in marathons as well as other distance events.  He is a member of the Wine Country Runs board which benefits local youth sports and other charities.  Stephen is a volunteer with the Paso Robles Rotary Club.

      Stephen Burke works very closely with the podiatrists of San Luis Podiatry Group to fulfill all of the shoe, orthotic and bracing needs for the Group.
